BayLISA: Carl Rigney on the Radius Protocol

The BayLISA group meets monthly to discuss topics of interest to systems
and network administrators. The meetings are free and open to the public.

BayLISA holds monthly meetings on the third Thursday of each month at
7:30 PM PST. We meet at Synopsys Building C in Mountain View, California
off Highway 237 at Middlefield. The meetings are also broadcast via MBONE.

Schedule
--------

February 15: Carl Rigney, Livingston Enterprises,
	     IETF Radius Working Group Chair

RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial In User Service) is a protocol used
by Network Access Servers (such as terminal servers or on-demand
routers) to safely query a remote database server to authenticate a
dial in user and receive authorization information describing what kind
of service to provide for the user. RADIUS Accounting extends RADIUS
to allow the Network Access Server to also send usage information to a
remote server.

The talk will describe what RADIUS is, how it works, what it can do,
where to get it, and where it's going. There'll be a Question & Answer
session afterwards.

March 21: Dan Appelman, Lawyer speaking on the recent telecom legislation,
and its impact on Systems Administrators.
