Welcome to one of the most 'misunderstood by upper management' positions
around today. There are lots and lots of books to read. But, the
question should have included the areas of interest you must address
first. I highly agree with the O'Reilly recommendation. But, there
are also a lot of other good references to areas like TCP/IP, networking,
security, system controling, performance tuning, etc.
Which area would you like to hit first?
BTW the Unix System Administration Handbook, Second Edition is one of
the best jump off points out there! and it is the 'red' book to which
some of use (like me) have been refering too.
Additionally don't be afraid to ask for help in these lists. We are
all glad to have the right answer for somebody from time to time...
;^)
