North Carolina System Administrators Group (NC*SA) -- November meeting




The next meeting of the North Carolina System Administrators & Managers 
organization (NC*SA) will be Monday, November 11, 1996, at 6pm.  Details 
about the meeting, our technical program and directions to our meeting 
location are provided in this note.  We hope to see you there!!

OUR PROGRAM:

-VxFS File System Technology - 
     on-line file system snapshot image mechanism, metadata intent logging, 
     and extent-based allocation

-Microsoft Windows NT "Cairo" - VxVM Volume Manager Technology Integration
     Microsoft has contracted with VERITAS to imbed the VxVM Volume Manager
     into Windows NT 5.0

-FirstWatch High Availability Technology - 
     Windows NT, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX.

OUR SPEAKER:

Ed Regan - VERITAS Software Systems Engineer

     Ed has been with VERITAS for two years.  Since joining the company, he
     has supported customers along the entire East coast as well as in the
     European market.  His responsibilities include technical briefing and
     consulting, demonstration of VERITAS products, and on-site technical
     support for potential and existing customers.

     Prior to joining VERITAS, Ed spent several years with a large Sun
     Microsystems reseller in New Jersey.   He specialized in large
     enterprise integration projects involving RAID storage solutions and
     networking.

     Ed also spent four years with the NYNEX Corporation where is
     specialized in personal systems solutions for large accounts.

     COMPANY BACKGROUND

     VERITAS Software Corporation
     Founded in 1989, VERITAS Software designs, develops and markets storage
     management and high availability products for mission-critical computing
     systems.  The products ease system administration and are designed to
     improve system performance, reliability, and data integrity. VERITAS
     products are licensed as source products to more than 48 OEMs worldwide.
     Shrink-wrap versions of the products for various platforms are sold
     through a growing channel of VERITAS authorized channel partners.

     The publicly held (NASDAQ:VRTS) company's world headquarters are located

November is our annual NC*SA membership meeting.  Three of the
seven positions on the NC*SA steering committee will be up for
re-election.  If you are interested in volunteering your time
or would like to find out more about the inner workings of NC*SA,

Please attend our November meeting.  The NC*SA exists for you,

Directions to Research Triangle Institute

    From I-40 west of RTP (e.g. Chapel Hill):

	Get onto I-40 heading east.  Follow I-40 to the NC-147 - Durham
	Freeway - North (towards Durham).  Stay in right lane.  Shift
	right as soon as possible after merging with traffic coming off
	I-40 westbound.  Exit to the right at the next exit (Cornwallis
	Road).  At top of exit, turn to the left.  (If you turn right and
	cross over the bridge, you are going the wrong direction.)  After
	turning left onto Cornwallis, shift immediately to the right
	lane.  Take the second right onto East Institute Drive.
	Take the second right off of East Institute Drive.  Dreyfus 
	Laboratory will be the first building on your right.  Use
	the parking lot in front of the Lab and enter at the main
	entrance. 

   From I-40 east of RTP (e.g. Raleigh):

	Get onto I-40 heading west.  Follow I-40 to the NC-147 - Durham
	Freeway - North (towards Durham).  Shift to rightmost lane
	as soon as possible  Exit to the right at the next exit (Cornwallis
	Road).  At top of exit, turn to the left.  (If you turn right and
	cross over the bridge, you are going the wrong direction.)  After
	turning left onto Cornwallis, shift immediately to the right
	lane.  Take the second right onto East Institute Drive.
	Take the second right off of East Institute Drive.  Dreyfus 
	Laboratory will be the first building on your right.  Use
	the parking lot in front of the Lab and enter at the main
	entrance. 

   From north of RTP (e.g. Durham):

	Get onto NC-147 - Durham Freeway - south.  Exit at the Cornwallis
	Road exit.  At the top of the exit, turn left to cross over the
	bridge.   After turning left onto Cornwallis, shift immediately
	to the right lane.  Take the second right onto East Institute Drive.
	Take the second right off of East Institute Drive.  Dreyfus 
	Laboratory will be the first building on your right.  Use
	the parking lot in front of the Lab and enter at the main
	entrance.
