Consider this a total digression:

What do we know about the demographics of:
Usenix
SAGE
Sysadmins as a group?

I'm not trying to make a point -- I'm just honestly curious.  In one shop
I worked in, the M/F ratio was 30:1 among Unix sysadmins and I was the
youngest by about 10 years. The stats are much more balanced in my current
office, and I have to say it makes a huge difference;  the Old-Boy Network
in that last job rivaled that of the Freemasons.  But I want to know --
what are the raw numbers out there?
