I got bored over the weekend and played with this for a bit. stunnel works
very nicely with both the UW POP/IMAP servers as well as Qpopper. I have
been able to do SSL IMAP (what I was really interested in) from both Outlook
Express and Netscape's Mail client.

The biggest problem is getting other clients to understand a certificate
that is signed by a "non-major" CA (I created a self-signed certificate),
but that is usually easy to fix.
