HP's OpenMail does this. I can't remember if they open-sourced the
project or not, though.
Hm. A quick check of http://www.hp.com/go/openmail/ says no. You must
have a media supscription or support contract, and must buy licenses.
They do have versions for HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, and Linux, however.
As well as WAP and PDA client software.
