FWIW, I've had people report to me that they've successfully
dist-upgrade'd from RH6.x boxes to RH7.x boxes via apt-rpm.  Not sure
what the downtime was (you would probably have to modify a few config
files after all ... at least sendmail).  

That personally gives me the screaming heebie jeebies. :)
