you still have to essentially build out duplicate a "new" copy of the OS
to run inside the virtual machine, one way or another.
You only "save" on hardware setup.

If I dont care about the hardware setup time, or I already have extra machines
racked and ready to go, it isnt much of a problem for me to jumpstart a new
box with a flash archive of an already running system.
